Abstract

One of the important functions of the institution of science and higher education, is the training of human resources with skills that are suitable for the current and future conditions of the country, dealing with knowledge and the ability to apply it. Currently, the significant unemployment rate of the educated workforce in the country is a proof of the incompatibility of the policies of these two sectors. In Iran, despite the quantitative development of universities and higher education institutions in recent decades, issues related to unemployment and lack of practical skills of young graduates have increased.Compatibility between job needs and quantitative and qualitative development of higher education plays a fundamental role in identifying the competencies needed by students, especially in the agricultural sector. In this research, the need assessment and estimation of academic human resources required in the fields of food processing industries were investigated with a qualitative research approach type. First, the the number of students in the fields of food science and technology during the years 2010-2021 were examined. next, by referring to upstream laws and documents related to the food processing industry and using the ratio density pattern in a qualitative method, data processing and analysis was done and the required expert manpower was estimated. Based on the results, the total number of specialists required in the year 2021 in the fields of food processing industries was determined to 7236 people, which, according to the educational levels, includes 3587 associates 2468 bachelor 1058 masters and 123 doctors
